Dental Assisting

Course Description

Students will learn oral anatomy, infection control, oral pathology, preventive dentistry and radiography (X-ray). Other course objectives include chair-side procedures, impressions and study models, safety standards and regulations, observation and internships. Students also need to get immunization against Hepatitis B, measles-mumps and rubella, Tetanus, and a Tuberculosis skin test. COLLEGE STUDENTS:  register/pay tuition at yvcc.edu

Sessions Offered: 8:00-10:30AM / 12:00-2:30PM / 3:00-6:10PM (Mon-Thurs) - College Class

Length of Program: 1-2 years

Equivalency Credits: 1 credit lab science / .5 credit health

College Credits: 24 credits

Employment Outlook

Students who complete the program will have job opportunities as Chair-side Dental Assistants, Dental Hygiene Assistants, Radiographic Assistants, and Infection Control Technicians.

Katrina Goodwin is a 1981 graduate of the accredited Dental Assisting Program at Spokane Community College. Katrina has 30 years experience as a chair side assistant, dental assistant trainer, and 6 years experience as Corporate Dental Educator for the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. Katrina has been a YV-TECH Advisory Board member for 5 years.
