Course Description

The YV-TECH carpentry program is a pre–apprenticeship carpentry program designed to prepare the students for entry level positions in any of several construction trades. We focus primarily in the carpentry field.  The training includes hand and power tool usage, followed by construction projects such as foundations, floor framing, wall framing, stair framing, roof framing, metal stud framing and more. The class will often do off site training in the community as well. Safety is paramount throughout the training.  Opportunities for post secondary training and apprenticeship  are also available.

Sessions Offered: 12:00-2:30PM / 3:00-6:10PM (Mon-Thurs)

Length of Program: 1-2 years

Equivalency Credits: 1 credit geometry

Employment Outlook

Those working in the field also need to have a strong foundation in math, be able to meet the physical demands of the job, and be willing to stay current with advancing technology.

Dan Garcia is a 24 year member of the Carpenters Local Union 59. Dan has worked on a variety of projects around the valley and state. His experience in residential and commercial construction make him very knowledgeable in his field.
