Council
The Director/Principal
The director is responsible for the educational mission of the school as well as the instruction staff, administration, and facilities support. The director manages the operational budget and provides recommendations to the Administrative Council on budget, curriculum, and facilities to meet the school's mission.
The Superintendent Administrative Council
The superintendents of the cooperative school districts are the governing body for YV-TECH. The council provides guidance and support regarding budgets, rules & regulations, and other pertinent matters.
The Host District
Yakima School District is the “Host” for YV-TECH that serves as the fiscal agent for all revenues and expenditures of the cooperative.
The Citizens Advisory Council
Composed of voluntary members from the business and industrial community, this committee assists with determining goals and direction of YV-TECH. The members know the needs of the labor market understand the working environments and provide first-hand knowledge of the current and future skills needed for employment.
The Program Advisory Committees
This committee represents businesses and industry that are involved in that program’s skills and technologies. The members suggest sources of information, equipment, and help find internship opportunities for the students. This committee approves curriculum and instructors.
Partnerships
YV-TECH has contracted with several agencies to provide educational opportunities and training for its students. The City of Yakima provides us a Firefighter Cadet Training Program, Carpenters Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund of Western Washington provides a Carpentry Training program. Perry Technical Institute partners with YV-TECH to share facilities and instructors. Several local cosmetology schools provide Cosmetology training in Yakima and Sunnyside, YVCC houses our Automotive Technology, Auto Collision Repair, Dental Assisting and Digital Media programs as well as providing TECH Prep credits to the majority of the programs.
